What’s New in the 2026 Ford Mustang?
Keeping the Legend Alive
As the last remaining American muscle car, the 2026 Ford Mustang delivers what drivers want, and Ford isn’t holding back. The iconic pony car enters 2026 with two body styles: coupe and convertible, and drivers can choose either style with a satisfying range of engines, trims, and packages. Around Live Oak and High Springs, the best place to get your hands on a 2026 Ford Mustang is Rountree Moore Ford near Live Oak, FL.
The All-New FX Package
In 2024, Ford redesigned the Mustang, and many of the changes remain in the 2026 model. As the legendary pony car enters its 61st year, Ford is offering it with an all-new package. The FX package is available on the GT Premium and brings back styling from the Fox Body Mustangs of the 1980s.
When you order your Mustang with the FX package, you get special exterior and interior styling features. This package includes turbofan-style white rims that coordinate with white accents on the grille. The rear window features a white decal that draws attention to the white Mustang badges. On the inside, the seats come with plaid inserts. The white accents and wheels pay homage to the Oxford White color used on the original Mustang.
New Styling Features Inside & Out
Along with the new FX package, drivers can choose the 2026 Ford Mustang in new colors. Adriatic Blue Metallic is the all-new color, and Ford is reviving Orange Fury Metallic, which hasn’t been available since 2019.
Drivers will appreciate the modern, yet retro styling inside the 2026 ‘Stang. Ford tweaked the infotainment system so drivers can choose their favorite gauges, colors, and features. The screen can be set so it only features the necessary controls. Those who want to immerse themselves in throwbacks can set the display screens to replicas from the 1987 Fox Body or the classic 1967 style. The all-new Remote Rev feature lets drivers rev the RPMs using the key fob from outside of the car.
Power, Power, and More Power
Ford offers the Mustang with several engine options, beginning with the turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost® with 315 horsepower, 350 lb-ft of torque, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. You can’t go wrong with the entry-level engine, but the soul of the Mustang shines through in the 5.0-liter V8 with 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. This engine can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or the 10-speed automatic.
Those who want mind-blowing speed and power should take a good look at the Mustang Dark Horse with a track-tuned 5.0-liter V8 that delivers 500 horsepower. Drivers who want even more power will get it in the 2026 Ford Mustang GTD with a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 with 800 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. This model isn’t for the lighthearted, as it comes with performance technology found in Formula 1 race cars.
